Smartwings airline company has added another new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft to its fleet. This is the fourteenth aircraft of this type in the company’s fleet. Smartwings received its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 in January 2018. Its fleet now comprises 49 airplanes.
The modern aircraft in Smartwings livery with the OK-SWO registration mark landed at Václav Havel Airport Prague this afternoon after a delivery flight from Boeing Field in Seattle, with a stopover in Copenhagen.
The newest addition to the Smartwings fleet will embark on its first commercial passenger flight on Thursday, 18 June 2026, when it will be deployed on a flight from Prague to Cagliari in Sardinia.
The company operates this aircraft type in two configurations: full economy with 189 seats and a two-class configuration with 8 seats in business class and 168 seats in economy class. Smartwings deploys these modern and efficient airplanes primarily on long-haul flights.
Smartwings made history with the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. Smartwings became the first airline in the world to land this type of aircraft in Antarctica in January 2022. At the same time, it holds a world record for the longest commercial flight with Boeing 737 MAX 8. The flight from Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic to Stockholm, Sweden, took 9 hours and 25 minutes.
Smartwings Group’s fleet currently includes 49 airplanes. It comprises 23 Boeings 737-800, 14 Boeings 737 MAX 8, two Boeings 737-900ER, four Airbuses A220, two Airbuses A320, and four business jets for private flights.
Under the 2026 summer flight schedule, Smartwings offers direct flights from six Czech airports to 80 destinations. Besides the Czech Republic, Smartwings Group will also operate flights from Poland, Slovakia and Hungary in the summer season. In the 2026/2027 winter flight schedule, Smartwings plans to expand its offer of scheduled flights from Prague. The company will introduce direct flights to Lisbon as of October 23 and increase the number of flights to Porto, Bilbao, and Toulouse. It will also newly operate flights to Nice all year round.
