Smartwings to offer vouchers to compensate for CSA flight tickets for Smartwings services

April 15, 2021
Clients of airline company Smartwings who had purchased a CSA ticket for a Smartwings flight that has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, will receive a voucher for a future Smartwings flight as a compensation. Clients who have not used their CA ticket for a new flight yet can apply for a voucher from Smartwings with a value equal to the price of the original CSA ticket. The voucher can be used to buy a new ticket for any regular flight operated by Smartwings.

All flight tickets, certificates for additional services, and vouchers issued by Czech Airlines within a clearance system of the International Air Transport Association – IATA (code starting with “064”) for Smartwings flights (code “QS”) that have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and have not been utilized or refunded, will be exchanged upon request filed no later than 31 July 2021 for new electronic vouchers issued by Smartwings (code starting with “797”) free of charge.

The value of the new voucher will be equal to that of the original flight ticket, certificate for additional services, or voucher. The new voucher will be valid for 12 months from the date of issue, with an optional extension for another 12 months. The new vouchers can be used to purchase a flight ticket or service directly from Smartwings and only for regular Smartwings flights; the vouchers cannot be used for any other purpose. The value of the vouchers will be deducted from the price of a new flight ticket or service purchased from Smartwings.

To apply for a new electronic voucher, clients should send a request by e-mail to Smartwings’ customer center at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. together with the following documents:

-  the flight ticket, certificate for additional services, or voucher that is to be exchanged for a new Smartwings voucher;

-  a payment receipt, power of attorney, or another document proving that the applicant is authorized to dispose of the original document;

-  a declaration that the flight ticket, certificate for additional services, or voucher has not been utilized or refunded;

-  additional documents as requested by Smartwings in order to verify the legitimacy pf the application for a new voucher.

Utilization of the new voucher for a specific flight or service is limited by Smartwings’ available transport capacity.

Smartwings reserves the right to individually consider the legitimacy of each application for an electronic voucher. There is no legal entitlement to receive a new voucher. Receiving a refund for the flight ticket, certificate for additional services, or voucher will render the new electronic voucher invalid.

Flight tickets, certificates for additional services, and vouchers issued by Czech Airlines within a clearance system of the International Air Transport Association – IATA (code starting with “064”) for Smartwings flights (flight code “QS”) that have not been exchanged for new electronic vouchers, can be exercised with the seller of the original ticket or voucher (IATA-accredited travel agents) or from Czech Airlines for Czech Airlines flights (flight code “OK”) or for Smartwings flights (flight code “QS”) in keeping with applicable transport terms and conditions and depending on available transport capacity.

Flight ticket holders may request a full refund from Czech Airlines under the airline’s applicable transport terms and conditions and in keeping with the process rules of the ongoing insolvency proceedings.

Smartwings is offering its transport capacity as a way to ease the situation for clients, but without the possibility to seek cash refund for the new electronic vouchers.
